USB Shot Glass is a Drinking Game in a Cup

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Here’s a new twist on an old drinking game. This shot glass is powered by a 1 GB USB drive that goes into the bottom of the shot glass. The USB drive contains the Power Hour Album, which features 60 one minute drinking songs from drinking game guy Ali Spagnola. That equals an hour. Get it?

power_hour_usb_shotglass
The idea is that you drink a shot of beer every time the song changes. That should get you good and pissed in no time. You get songs like “I’m Fine Occifer” and “You Won’t Remember This Song.” The shot glass also has a lanyard, which will come in handy as you are staggering about and puking. Once you wipe off your face and fall on your butt, you’ll notice that the shot glass is still attached to you, and then you can drink some more.

The Power Hour Shot Glass USB set is $30 (USD) here. You get a 30 second bonus track, a poster, and an explanation of the game, along with the full 60 song album. You can also just buy the album from iTunes for about $12, or just buy the CD for about $17 if you are still rocking a Compact Disc player. Drink up people!

Samsung Omnia W offers Windows Phone Mango experience

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Samsung seems to have got their strategy down pat in the world of smartphones – they’re doing gangbusters where the Android scene is concerned, selling more than 10 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S2 to date despite being launched rather recently, and while their own set of bada-powered phones aren’t doing too hot, Samsung still finds the time to support another operating system – Windows Phone, where the latest model to be announced would be the Samsung Omnia W that will be the first Samsung device that runs on Windows Phone Mango, the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

As with most of the other high end phones from Samsung these days, your eyes will be treated to quite the performance thanks to a vivid Super AMOLED display and overall industrial design, not to mention enjoying enriched content and a social communication experience that is enabled by People Hub. Basically, Samsung is marketing the Omnia W as a different kind of handset which puts people at the center of everything.

Obviously when it comes to phones, most people would want to check out just what kind of specifications it will bring – and the Samsung Omnia W does not disappoint. From the 3.7” Super AMOLED display, you will also find no lack in processing power thanks to a beefy 1.4GHz processor, 14.4Mbps HSPA connectivity support, a 5-megapixel camera at the back while there is a VGA camera upfront for video calls, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

With half a dozen specialized Microsoft applications thrown into the mix to deliver an engaging content and communication experience, you can be sure that the Samsung Omnia W is perfect for those who tend to be more social than the rest. The Windows Phone People Hub will be integrated with social networking services such as Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, making sure that you won’t have any troubles keeping in touch with the rest of your social circle.

No idea on pricing though, but we do know that the Omnia W will hit Italy first at the end of next month, with a gradual global rollout that comprises of the rest of Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, South East and South West Asia.

Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer from Griffin Technology

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

There is nothing that I like more than a laser pointer, and Griffin Technology has a good one with the Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer.

As the name implies, this laser pointer has a pen and a stylus on it. There really isn’t anything too special about the pen, but the pen portion can flip around for a rubber-tipped touchscreen stylus.

The stylus is good for when you want more specific touches on your touchscreen. Since a lot of gaming applications require precise touches in order to win, this stylus could come in handy on tablet games.

As for the laser pointer, it’s pretty obvious what to use this for: teasing cats. Actually, the company says this is good for presentations, but I’ve noticed that when I am viewing presentation, I am often distracted by a laser pointer like a cat.

I got a chance to try out the Griffin Technology Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer for myself, and I liked it and found it to be quite useful. My only worry is that I might absently leave it behind like a BIC pen. Until someone makes pens, styluses, and lasers that are built into your finger like Inspector Gadget, I will have to be more careful with this $50 investment.

By the way, this the price that you can get for it on the Griffin Technology site.

Elgato HDHomeRun Network Dual Tuner

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

I think that we all want to watch TV from our computers, and Elgato’s HDHomeRun is granting consumers their wish.

The HDHomeRun is a tiny box that connects to one’s cable or antenna, and then connects to one’s router. With the Windows 7 and Mac software, a user can stream digital television, and record TV shows, at the same time in full HD.

It is too bad that the HDHomeRun is not compatible with older versions of Windows. It looks like it was made more for the Mac, as it comes with EyeTV for Mac. EyeTV allows the user access to SmartGuides to record shows, even entire seasons. It also allows for editing and sharing them with other Macs, provided they are on your network.

With the purchase of the Elgato comes one free year of TV Guide data, with the option of renewing it for only $19.95 per year. The better news is that the HDHomeRun has an iPhone and iPad App, which allows you to watch live or recorded TV anywhere.

All in all the HDHomeRun could be a terrific way to enjoy TV from the computer, as we all want. Well, I do, anyway. You should be able to purchase it for a price of $179.95, and click here for more information.

TRTL BOT brings new meaning to iPad 2 case with The Shell

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Whenever someone purchases a new device such as an Android smartphone or a shiny iPad 2, surely he or she would also be enticed by the person at the sales counter to pick up some sort of protective case – it is only natural to do so. After all, why risk scratching your latest purchase, or even worse, what if you happen to suffer from a particularly bad case of butterfingers that day and drop the iPad 2 onto a concrete floor with a thud? It might be made out of some tough stuff, but that does not mean it is exempt from cracks and scratches either.

All of that will definitely drive you to fork out even more money for a case, and this is where another dilemma begins – just which model do you pick up out of the hundreds of cases out there? Seems that it took you long enough to decide on the kind of tablet to get, and now you have to scratch your head one more time to figure out the kind of case you’re going to keep it company with. Well, TRTL BOT has an interesting solution for you – by rolling out The Shell, which is actually a clever combination of iPad 2 protective casing, multimedia viewing stand-easy grip handle, home button protector, volume enhancer and carrying tote.

Specially designed to be part of the iPad 2 accessory life, The Shell will merge the functionality of many different accessories into a single device – hence bringing new meaning to the words “multifunctional case”. Among some of the innovations crammed into The Shell include a multipurpose handle that allows you to tote around the iPad 2 in a jiffy, while doubling up as a multimedia stand so that you can watch your favorite videos or type via a Bluetooth keyboard comfortably without introducing even more cramps to your already beleaguered hands.

There is also a child-friendly retractable home button protector to make sure that all apps and settings will remain safe whenever you share your iPad with your family. Not only that, a Volume Enhancer feature is built into its design that will redirect the speaker output forward so that your ears will be able to enjoy a far more immersive experience.

Nice to know TRTL BOT has a heart for the environment, as this California-manufactured accessory relies on non-toxic recycled plastic which is BPA free and dishwasher safe, and you can pick up The Shell in Charcoal Black, Arctic White and Grass Green for $50 in an exclusive pre-order price through October 20th. When launched, it will retail for $65 apiece.

TechSafe Case targets iPad 2 owners

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

If you’re an iPad 2 owners, you’re extremely blessed because you have a plethora of accessories to choose from. The only downside is this – with so many choices floating around, how are you going to make a decent decision? I guess this is where tech sites come in handy as they present it to you as it is, leaving you to figure out whether the context of presentation fits your needs and lifestyle.

Griffin Technology has just unveiled their TechSafe Case for iPad 2 which offers a vital anchor point that makes sure your iPad 2 does not get stolen in a public place like Starbucks whenever you need to get up and have your attention occupied elsewhere for a while, thanks to the security of a desktop cable locking system that comes along with it.

Taking just a few seconds to lock down your iPad 2, this is far safer than asking someone else at the local coffee joint to look after your device while you make your way to the loo – after all, you never know whether that person was about to leave and takes the opportunity to embark from that place with your iPad 2 in hand – for good. Constructed using protective polycarbonate, the TechSafe Case will lock around your iPad while delivering a secure anchor point for the included 4-digit combination-lock security cable.

All you need to do is key in the code, press the lock’s plunger, and it will automatically release the tablet and case for carrying. Isn’t that highly convenient without being cumbersome? Glad to know it is also small enough to ensure your iPad 2 does not become a chore to tote around. Griffin goes one step further by offering you online storage space to stash away your unique 4-digit combination-lock code just in case your mind plays a little bit of hide and seek with you.

Security, protection and usability in a single package – what else can you ask for? With two foldout workstands accompanying this $79.99 purchase (one inclined for typing and tapping, and one for upright landscape viewing), the TechSafe Case and Cable Lock seems to be a decent must-have purchase.

Green-Aid Grenade Shopping Bag

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Now isn’t this cute – we all know that environmental awareness has risen a whole lot in the past decade, but the work is far from finished – otherwise we ourselves would be finished if we continue with the wanton destruction of the planet and environment through various methods including non-organic farming practices, genetically modified foods and lifestock, fuel guzzling vehicles, heavy use of plastic bags and styrofoam containers – the works! Green-Aid intends to bring the fight to these environmental threats with their $19.99 Grenade Shopping Bag that sends a clear message against plastic.

This re-usable shopping bag is definitely fun to tote around, and it surely sends the right message to the rest of the shoppers who still rely on plastic bags that kill sea turtles to carry their merchandise home. Made out of neoprene, it can hold approximately 4 gallons of items. When you’re done, just tuck the bag back into it’s cover and you’re good to go. It would be better if this was made out of 100% biodegradable material though.

WorkEZ Professional Adjustable Stand from Uncaged Ergonomics

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Comfort and ergonomics are very important when working a laptop. Ideally, it should be on a desk or table, but the WorkEZ Professional adjustable stand is made for those who are using the laptop on the bed, sofa, chair, floor, or small table.

The aluminum stand can hold a load of 13 pounds. The secret of the WorkEZ Professional’s success is its adjustable joints, which are made to lock in place every 15 degrees. All that is required of the user is to push in the button and lock the proper angle, which insures that both the left and right leg are always at the same angle. The instructions show precisely what angle Joints A, B, and C have to be in order to create a stand for a standing position, a bed, a couch, even the floor.

So the next time you are working with your laptop, and you find yourself putting your back in an awkward position, save yourself some back pain and pull out the WorkEZ Professional. Despite its aluminum frame, the WorkEZ Professional is light enough to carry around at 3.3 pounds.

You should be able to purchase the WorkEZ Professional for a special price of $49.50 on the Uncaged Ergonomics site. I don’t know how long the special price will last, but it is regularly at $55.00. While you are there, you should check out other related products from the company like the WorkEZ Light and the WorkEZ Executive.

Bracketron Back-iT for the iPad 2

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

By now, I am certain that you are all aware of the iPad 2, and how the user can purchase the flexible, fold-able Smart Cover to protect the front. However, what about the back of the precious iPad 2?

This is probably the mentality that led Bracketron to develop the Back-iT. It is a “low-profile, precision-cut polycarbonate back that securely holds and protects your iPad 2 from scratches and scuffs”. It comes in the same colors of the previously mentioned Smart Covers, which are all pastel and include a “soft-touch design for superior grip for interacting and carrying your iPad 2″.

Yes, I used a lot of quotes here, but let me give you one of my own: “If you use the Back-iT with a Smart Cover on your iPad 2, it will be a beautiful bright color on either side. It is truly up to you if you want to make them match.”

You should be able to purchase the Back-iT from the official Bracketron site here for an MSRP of $29.99 in pastel colors of gray, blue, pink, green, and orange. While you are there, you might want to check out Bracketron’s Style-iT, a stylus and pen that also come in the same pastel colors. I highly suggest a color that matches.
