Concrete Never Looked This Light or Comfy

I tried lying down on the concrete road once for a school project, and let me just say that my back was sore for close to a week afterwards. Obviously concrete isn’t made for comfort; it’s made to be strong and hard and long-lasting so we don’t end up with horribly cracked roads and structures.

With the exception of these Concrete Cushions by Torafu Architects, that is. These cushions are part of the design studio’s “Soft Block” series that offers a solution for modular, re-arrangable furniture.

Each of the faux concrete blocks feature varying and diverse designs that come together wonderfully when they’re stacked or placed side-by-side. Make a chair, put together a sofa, or lay everything down flat on the floor to come up with a mattress.

The cushions are extra cushy and comfortable since they use cushy, but supportive Fine Revo foam material by Asleep.

Now I’d lie down any day on this kind of concrete.

Tobii Shows Off IS-2 Eye Tracker Module: Are Eyeball-Controlled Games the Next Big Thing?

For over 20 years, gamers have been using a mouse to control their video games. Over the last couple of years, motion controls such as the Kinect, Move and Wii-mote have become common on game console, and are starting to make their way to PC gaming and other computer uses as well.

I think the eye-tracking control technology that a company called Tobii showed off about this time last year could have even more potential than other motion control systems, since it could be used while simply sitting at your desk, instead of having to flail your arms and legs about.

Last week, Tobii was demonstrating the latest version of its optical tracking technology at CeBIT called the IS-2 Eye Tracker module. The new module promises to be more responsive and fit a wider range of hardware including gaming machines than the technology unveiled last year could handle. The promise of this technology is the ability to control a videogame or mouse cursor using nothing but your eyes.

The technology uses a pair of infrared projectors that shine on the user’s pupils and a pair of small cameras that record the position of the pupils as the user looks around. The position of the eyes is then sent to a processor on board that turns that into the movement on the screen. The system is said to be very easy use and accurate. In addition to being much smaller, the new version is said to be significantly cheaper than the first-gen model. At this point Tobii, hasn’t announced any consumer products based on the tech, but is offering the IS-2 on an OEM basis to computer and display manufacturers.

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Snaps Pic of Martian Dust Devil in Action

Growing up in the infamous Tornado Alley in Texas, we learned from an early age what to do and what not to do if a tornado is coming your way. You also learn what a tornado looks like and the sort of devastation they can leave behind as well. NASA has shown off a really cool picture that was snapped by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter of a dust devil, which is similar to a tornado.

The photo looks a bit like a fire or white worm of some sort, but it’s actually a picture of a dust devil raging on the surface of the red planet. The raging winds pushed a column of dust more than half a mile in the atmosphere. Martian dust devils are very similar to those on Earth and are powered by spinning columns of air.

The difference between a tornado and a dust devil comes in when they form. A dust devil forms on a clear day and is caused by the sun hitting the ground. Tornadoes, on the other hand occur during storms when winds are high. This Martian dust devil measured more than half a mile high, and has a massive shadow as you can see from the image. I wonder how wide its path was.

When you have a pizza party, you might like to whip out your Starship Enterprise pizza wheel, but when you want to serve some cold brew along with, you need a cool bottle opener too. Han and Chewie recommend the Millenium Falcon for opening bottles at light speed.

This Millenium Falcon bottle opener is just the right thing for popping open your bottles, and for evading stormtroopers and TIE fighters while you’re at it. If blue milk came in bottles, this would definitely be the right thing to open it with – but it’ll have to do for beer and soda bottles for now. It even has a magnet on the bottom of it so you can stick it to the side of your fridge the same way Han landed it on the side of that Star Destroyer.

If you prefer to carry a weapon instead of a spacecraft, you can always go with this Lightsaber bottle opener. If one was good enough for Anakin to open up some younglings with, it’s good enough for your Bud Light. Though this one is based on Luke’s saber, not Anakin’s though.

On the plus side, it actually makes that lightsaber “swooooosh!!” startup sound when you pop the top. See?..

Blackberry PlayBook Drives R/C Robot Car

Some video footage has surfaced of a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet being used as a remote control for a robotic car – complete with some soothing soul music. We don’t know much about this project, but we do know that the PlayBook controls the car over the Wi-fi network provided by a BlackBerry Bold 9900 – and the app was written by a guy named Kamila Sternal. That’s something at least.

Touch-based controls steer and drive the vehicle, and the app shows you in real time what the car’s onboard camera sees. That means that you could send this car into a scary cave, the sewer system, anywhere you want to explore, but don’t actually want to enter physically.

Looks like a fun project that lets you create a spy car while using your tablet. Does this make you want to get a PlayBook? Looks like you can do more with it than we thought, plus remote-controlled cars are always fun.

If you like to chop fruits and vegetables on a cutting board while dressed as Link, I’ve found your perfect kitchen accessory. This quality cutting board is made from walnut and hard-maple and is tough enough that you won’t mess up the design while you are chopping away.

These boards measure about 12 x 17 x 1.5 inches and sell for $125(USD). Given the price I would say that it’s for hardcore Zelda fans only. They are handmade, so if you order one you will get it within 2 weeks as they take some time to create.

You can find it on Etsy from seller 1337motif, who obviously loves both food prep and a good game of Zelda. Sure it’s expensive, but it’s made to last and it has a Triforce on it. Surely those factors justify a purchase. But if it’s still too expensive for you, consider grabbing a set of Triforce coasters for just $50.

War of the Roses Gameplay Trailer. Spoiler Alert: Danny DeVito Isn’t in It

Developers Fatshark and Paradox just released a trailer for the upcoming game War of the Roses. I was sold on this game as soon as I saw the guy getting stabbed in the eye. The game is currently being developed and it is like a first person shooter that is also historical.

While the title might make you think of a 1980s movie, this game takes place in the civil war era of 15th century England, which is known as the War of the Roses. It’s a war between the two rival branches of the Royal House of Plantagenet: House of Lancaster and the House of York.

War of the Roses should be available for the PC later this year. I think it looks promising if you like the medieval era and first-person shooters and I do. So far the graphics look pretty gorgeous too. Hopefully the gameplay is great as well.

Epson Moverio BT-100 Video Glasses Hacked to Control Parrot AR.Drone

I bet a lot of you are like me and get a kick out of seeing the mashups geeks can whip up with a couple gadgets and some spare time. Thomas Sohmers has what might be one of the coolest combos I’ve seen in a long time. He took set of Epson Moverio BT-100 see-through video glasses and a Parrot AR.Drone flying toy and created the coolest first-person view control system yet.

Those video glasses have a see-through display that allows you to see whatever video you’re watching and the real world at the same time. Those glasses happen have a handheld controller that is based on Android, which is the key to this particular hack. Sohmers whipped up some sort of app that runs on the Android controller which allows him to see the video from either of the AR.Drone’s cameras and provide basics control over its flight.

I say “basic” because for now the Android controller will only operate the drone for altitude and for rotating the aim of the camera by spinning the flying toy. Sohmers is working on improving the app so it gives him full control over the flying toy. Check out the video above to see the control system in action.

BioShock Infinite to Offer Dynamic Storyline

I’m very much looking forward to the next installment in the BioShock series. The third game in the series is being developed by Irrational Games and will be published by 2K Games. The game is called BioShock Infinite and game creator Ken Levine recently offered up some words to the guys at Kotaku to stoke your geek lust until the game launches in October of 2012.

According to Levine, Infinite will give gamers choices when they play which affect the storyline in the game.

I don’t want to present it as sort of a BioWare-level, radical reimagining of the universe that you can do by making story choices,” “But there are gonna be some changes.” “Everything you do has deadly consequences.

As previously revealed, the game will put the player in the shoes of an ex-Pinkerton agent named Booker DeWitt. His primary objective is to rescue a girl named Elizabeth, but it’s not a giant escort mission – Elizabeth has serious powers of her own. The game also takes place in the aerial city of Columbia, a dramatic change of scenery from the underwater world of Rapture for sure.

It’s not clear how much you’ll be able to influence the Bioshock:Infinite storyline through your actions, but its presumably more than just whether or not you harvest EVE from Little Sisters this time.

Are you thinking of getting inked? After all, celebrities do it, and so do sports icons – be they footballers, the star quarterbacks, professional wrestlers, or hoop shooters. Getting a tattoo has for some time already been the hip thing to do, but when it comes to the types of tattoo designs as well as choice of placement, well, I am quite sure that one is able to write an entire thesis with it and still not come to any concrete conclusion. Having said that, how many of us would think of tattooing our possessions, let alone a mobile phone?

Yes sir, we know that Apple allows one to engrave their iPods and iPads, but body artist Simon Templeman has come up with a rather novel idea – to be able to tattoo your favorite design onto the back of your smartphone. How is this done? Surely not with the traditional ink and needle that is meant to puncture human skin, right? For starters, he will be able to wield his magic using a special technique that was developed by him for the Nokia Lumia 710.

He managed to fine-tune a special air-brush, recreating the needle and ink effect of a tattoo – although this time around, his “canvas” comes in the form of a smartphone – a Nokia Lumia 710, to be exact. Simon says, “It’s a great way to make your phone stand out. Tattoos say a lot about people, so I thought it would be great for them to be able to put that individuality on their phone too.” This inspiration to tattoo handsets came about after Simon took a gander at the Nokia Lumia 710 alongside its bevy of interchangeable back panels.

Simon, currently 45, will rely on special lacquer layers in order to turn those designs on the phone as permanent fixtures. Not only that, he is not one to rest on his laurels, and hence has been looking into different ways of using a laser technique and burning an image on to the phone itself. At least Simon does not have to worry about his customers flinching at the sight of a needle, and neither does he have to fret about sterilizing needles before starting work on a new smartphone’s back. Just how much does Simon charge for his services? Prices start from £40 upwards, and just like any other ordinary tattoo, the price increases with the intricacy of the design.

ivee Digit alarm clock – Siri in a box?

Have any of you experienced Siri on iOS 5? I am quite sure that the initial moments spent with Siri are very tender, and chances are, your experience would have remained stuck with you for a long time to come. After all, how often is it before Siri and iOS 5 that one is able to converse in a rather natural manner to one’s smartphone, and the software will be able to take what you have spoken and process it into different functions and tasks. Well, here is a little Siri-like experience to perk your day – although it will be limited to the form of the ivee Digit alarm clock.

Yes, I am quite sure that most folks already start their mornings off by yelling (see, it ain’t talking) at their alarm clock, asking it to quit its incessant ringing so that you can grab five more minutes of precious snooze time. The ivee Digit is slightly different, but so far, initial impressions of it has been rather decent, meaning it works as advertised. No idea on how it will perform when people with different accents talk to it though.

I would feel a bit weird talking to an alarm clock, but then again, perhaps this is the new method of interacting with our devices – first starting from the physical keyboard to the virtual one, and eventually will we be able to make a complete jump to just voice-based conversations and commands with your devices? Using the ivee Digital alarm clock should be a no-brainer – all you need to do is plug it into a nearby wall outlet, follow the instructions found in the Quick Start Guide religiously, and say, “Hello ivee”. Tell ivee the time, and it will set it accordingly, and you can also set up to two different alarms on a single clock – after all, not all married couples wake up at the same time.

Interestingly enough, the instruction booklet “warns” you not to speak to ivee Digit in a robot voice, and you are not to interrupt ivee until it is done speaking. I guess apart from that limitation of the hardware and software, it is also a great way to remind us that interrupting someone who is talking is just plain rude, and it is always better to listen than to talk. After all, we learn far more by listening. The ivee Digit will retail for $49.99 a pop if you are interested at something a little bit out of the ordinary.

Here’s a new twist on an old drinking game. This shot glass is powered by a 1 GB USB drive that goes into the bottom of the shot glass. The USB drive contains the Power Hour Album, which features 60 one minute drinking songs from drinking game guy Ali Spagnola. That equals an hour. Get it?

The idea is that you drink a shot of beer every time the song changes. That should get you good and pissed in no time. You get songs like “I’m Fine Occifer” and “You Won’t Remember This Song.” The shot glass also has a lanyard, which will come in handy as you are staggering about and puking. Toilet Paper Printer, Surprisingly Not Called a Wipe-jet

Mario Lukas apparently likes to read his memos on toilet paper, since he created this printer that uses toilet paper rolls instead of traditional A4 sheets. Lukas created this TP printer as an entry in a hardware hacking contest called “Mach flott den Schrott” that was being held by German technology magazine c’t.

It’s made with old printer parts and Lukas even gave it an Ethernet port so that he can control what he prints. He designed it mostly to print Tweets and Facebook posts(the content of which is usually suited to just this type of paper) but it can also print RSS feeds. Need to add more paper? Just head down to the local store and buy an 8 pack of TP. Put half away for yourself and half away for the printer, then open the side of the printer and put it in.

The stylus ballpoint pen is a clever product, but Griffin does Monteverde one better by incorporating a third device. The Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer is a stylus, pen and a laser pointer all in one. Imagine that. Seriously though I’d rather have plain names like that than the usual array of letters and numbers in many product models. But I hope Griffin doesn’t expect us to pronounce each “+” in this thing’s name.

Guy Flies Through Chinese Mountain with Wingsuit, Lives to Tell the Tale

Look, up in the sky. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s some guy in a wingsuit flying through a mountain. Stuntman Jeb Corliss has been using his Wingsuit since 2007, but this is one of his craziest stunts. Armed with his Wingsuit, a parachute, and a GoPro hero video camera, he flies through a hole in a Chinese mountain.

Basically, this guy is the closest thing we have to a Superman as he soars through the air. After jumping from a helicopter at 6,000 feet, Corliss casually flies through a narrow hole in Tianmen mountain, in Hunan Province, China.

The whole thing is accomplished perfectly and he lands safely with a parachute. This guy can really fly. Now, if he could just get up there without a helicopter, he could start fighting crime for us.

Originally modeled and designed on a computer, each die is 3D printed and then meticulously hand painted to create that worn out, aged, steamy, punky, steampunk look. It’s available in iron and bronze finish and uses cogs instead of pips. Because it would be hard to represent numbers with steam. What would 6 steams even look like? That’d just be 6 water molecules.

Wall-mounted Game & Watch Good for a Few Games, Not Very Portable

One reason why handheld video game consoles were (and are) so popular is because they’re extremely portable. Most of them can be folded up or kept in cases and then stowed away in a purse or backpack, ready to be taken out for another round of gaming when the opportunity arises.

But if you happen to have really fat fingers and are a pretty huge person overall, then you might appreciate having a larger of the gaming console. Pictured above is the wall-mounted gaming portable(?), although its case , which looks and plays just one of those old Game & Watch handheld video games.

The giant Nintendo Game & Watch was made by Tobie Nortje for the reception area of 21tanks. It was built using a computer monitor embedded in the oversize case, while the buttons are connected to an Arduino control board. Signals are sent back and forth from the controls to a PC, allowing users to play games from the classic platform, in this case, powered by PicaPic.

The Elusive Watch Lets You Read the Time off Your Wrist, Literally

I’ve been so lazy lately that I haven’t had the batteries of two of my wristwatches changed yet. So as things stand, they’re still lying on my dresser. I still wear them but they’re more like accessories now, since the batteries are already deader than dead.

So what’s an energy-saving alternative that will look hip, colorful, and futuristic on your wrist? It’s designer David Blanc’s Elusive watch that’s still quite elusive nowadays, considering that it’s not actually being manufactured yet.

Here’s another possible reason why the watch was named like so: the watch’s face is also elusive. That’s because it doesn’t have a face – just a hole where a face is supposed to be. This is where the battery-saving stuff comes in.

Instead of displaying the time on a LED or LCD 24/7 or having two hands running across it at any given moment, you have to insert your finger into the face to have it displayed: one finger for the time, and two for the date. After it’s triggered, the time would be projected onto your skin using a tiny, harmless laser beam. Pretty neat concept, eh?

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of Space Invaders-themed stuff. Although some aren’t things I’m very fond of (like the Space Invaders silk tie), there are some that I definitely think are worth getting (like the Space Invaders Alarm Clock and the Space Invaders Multi Tool.)

And another thing I really wouldn’t mind having?

The first thing you want in a bag is for it to look good. The Powerbag lives up to that with attractive diagonal cross-stitching across the front in an all black color scheme (also available in grey). It’s design by f?l. The second aspect to look for is comfort. /> /> The bag’s detachable shoulder strap fit comfortably without digging into our shoulder. The back of the bag, as you can see above, has pretty thick padding to both protect both the contents of your bag and prevent it from banging into you every step you take. The outside of the bag has a lot of small pockets of various sizes to hold all your things and keep you organized. There’s even a water bottle pocket on the side. But what about the inside? /> /> The inside has a dedicated laptop compartment rated for up to a 16″ laptop with a wide u-shaped velcro strap to keep it from falling out (shown open above). The laptop compartment easily fit our MacBook Air and would likely fit it with a case too. We didn’t flip the bag upside down with our laptop inside, but we probably could have and it would have stayed put. It feels well protected in there. The main compartment has plenty of room and it too is nicely lined. A zippered pouch inside the main compartment holds the battery pack for the charger. /> /> The battery pack? Yes- we saved the best part for last- the built-in charger. The aptly named Powerbag is designed to keep you powered up. Each of the two pockets shown above is wired directly into the charger. Just slip your device in the pocket and plug it in and you’re charging on the go. Nothing to think about, nothing to bring along, you’re charging. To tell how much power you have left in the bag, you just press the button next to the power meter. It’s a little hard to see in this daylight photo but there are 4 little white lights that are lit up to indicate that the bag is fully charged.

The battery included is a removable 3000mAh battery which includes Apple, Micro-USB and Mini-USB connectors and a USB port to charge anything else you can think of. The manufacturer says it will charge most mobile devices two times fully which seems pretty close to accurate based on our unscientific testing (and most likely you can charge it more than twice because realistically you’re not going to let your phone run down to 0% before charging). A water resistant AC port on the outside of the bag makes it easy to juice up the bag.

The verdict: an excellent laptop bag suitable for everyday use or travel. It looks good, has lots of pockets, good padding and protection, comfortable and the best part is the integrated charger. We have reported on the Eco Pod before, and I got a chance to try out the Rugged All Terrain Speaker Case for myself.

For those who aren’t familiar with this product, I’m not certain whether “Rugged All Terrain” is an adequate adjective for it. I mean, you can use your mobile device in any terrain where you can get a signal, really. The Eco Pod is designed for those who want to take their iPod, iPhone, or other smartphone in the rugged outdoor conditions of the real world.

It is IPX7 certified to stay within 3 feet of water for 30 minutes without any leaks. The Eco Pod includes some IPX7 ear buds so you can listen to your music in watery conditions.

The Eco Pod is a polycarbonate case with two reinforced clamps. It has a two inch detachable carbiner clip for travel, as well as a slot to keep it in your belt if you like.

Now here is the bad news. When your smartphone or iPod or whatever device is in the unit, you cannot access the touchscreen. In other words, once you hook it up in the case with the 3.5 mm jack, close the cover, you had better have it set to a big playlist or a radio if you want to hear some music.

I think that we all want to watch TV from our computers, and Elgato’s HDHomeRun is granting consumers their wish.

The HDHomeRun is a tiny box that connects to one’s cable or antenna, and then connects to one’s router. With the Windows 7 and Mac software, a user can stream digital television, and record TV shows, at the same time in full HD.

It is too bad that the HDHomeRun is not compatible with older versions of Windows. It looks like it was made more for the Mac, as it comes with EyeTV for Mac. EyeTV allows the user access to SmartGuides to record shows, even entire seasons. It also allows for editing and sharing them with other Macs, provided they are on your network.

There is nothing that I like more than a laser pointer, and Griffin Technology has a good one with the Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer.

As the name implies, this laser pointer has a pen and a stylus on it. There really isn’t anything too special about the pen, but the pen portion can flip around for a rubber-tipped touchscreen stylus.

The stylus is good for when you want more specific touches on your touchscreen. Since a lot of gaming applications require precise touches in order to win, this stylus could come in handy on tablet games.

As for the laser pointer, it’s pretty obvious what to use this for: teasing cats. Actually, the company says this is good for presentations, but I’ve noticed that when I am viewing presentation, I am often distracted by a laser pointer like a cat.

I got a chance to try out the Griffin Technology Stylus + Pen + Laser Pointer for myself, and I liked it and found it to be quite useful. My only worry is that I might absently leave it behind like a BIC pen. Until someone makes pens, styluses, and lasers that are built into your finger like Inspector Gadget, I will have to be more careful with this $50 investment.

Samsung Omnia W offers Windows Phone Mango experience

Samsung seems to have got their strategy down pat in the world of smartphones – they’re doing gangbusters where the Android scene is concerned, selling more than 10 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S2 to date despite being launched rather recently, and while their own set of bada-powered phones aren’t doing too hot, Samsung still finds the time to support another operating system – Windows Phone, where the latest model to be announced would be the Samsung Omnia W that will be the first Samsung device that runs on Windows Phone Mango, the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

As with most of the other high end phones from Samsung these days, your eyes will be treated to quite the performance thanks to a vivid Super AMOLED display and overall industrial design, not to mention enjoying enriched content and a social communication experience that is enabled by People Hub. Basically, Samsung is marketing the Omnia W as a different kind of handset which puts people at the center of everything.

Obviously when it comes to phones, most people would want to check out just what kind of specifications it will bring – and the Samsung Omnia W does not disappoint. From the 3.7” Super AMOLED display, you will also find no lack in processing power thanks to a beefy 1.4GHz processor, 14.4Mbps HSPA connectivity support, a 5-megapixel camera at the back while there is a VGA camera upfront for video calls, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

With half a dozen specialized Microsoft applications thrown into the mix to deliver an engaging content and communication experience, you can be sure that the Samsung Omnia W is perfect for those who tend to be more social than the rest. The Windows Phone People Hub will be integrated with social networking services such as Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, making sure that you won’t have any troubles keeping in touch with the rest of your social circle.

No idea on pricing though, but we do know that the Omnia W will hit Italy first at the end of next month, with a gradual global rollout that comprises of the rest of Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, South East and South West Asia.

diy flight simulator: to infinity and beyond!

Matt Thomas created this awesome DIY flight simulation rig that is called a Moving Axis AirCraft Simulator, which will tilt and shift just like a regular flight simulator. The only difference is that it was built with only common materials you can find at a hardware store, has no pneumatics, no electric motors, and no hydraulics – and was made by some guy in Kansas.

Matt works for Rodger Dodger Aviation and he’s fully documented the process involved. He’s got a series of tutorials available for anyone wanting to replicate this.

He used rapid prototyping to get this done quickly. This means that he quickly whipped up a prototype, and kept adjusting it until it did everything that was needed. Matt says that there was a lot of trial and error, but ultimately, he’s satisfied with the result.

ipads may get some carbon fiber lovin’ in the future

I really like my iPad, and the thing is pretty lightweight already with its aluminum chassis and coverings. Future iPads may get even more lightweight thanks to a patent app that has surfaced showing Apple is looking to carbon fiber.

Lots of ultraportable notebooks on the market have carbon fiber in their construction, so this isn’t that far out in the least. The patent outlines a new outer shell for the tablet that uses “layered fiber in matrix type material.”

I think it would be epic if Apple took the iPad, made it in carbon fiber, and then left the fiber exposed for all to see. I would hope they use the cool looking carbon fiber, not the flat and ugly looking dry carbon fiber. Carbon fiber can break in some uses so Apple would apparently use a frame made from CF to strengthen the works.

portable wi-fi jammer: pocket evil

Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of jamming cell phones as much as the next guy, but isn’t it illegal to do so? Still, when there comes a time when you need to block the texts of a 12-year old girl, then I’m all for cell phone jamming. But Wi-Fi jamming? Shouldn’t information be free?

One thing’s for sure, the device is pretty small and can easily fit in a pocket. Once it’s activated, Wi-Fi goes kaboom! There are no antennas or wires involved – just mayhem.

The Portable Wi-Fi Signal Jammer is available through the Chinavasion online store and it costs about USD for 1-5 units, in case you want some for your friends too. All I can think of is that you might want to block Wi-Fi for security reasons, but still it seems like a bad idea.

panasonic updates lumix g2 camera to support 3d lens

If you have one of those cool Panasonic Lumix G2 micro four-thirds digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, a new firmware has landed. The upgrade adds a really cool new feature to the camera if you buy the sweet Panasonic H-FT012 3D lens that surfaced a few months back.

That cool lens is very thin and has dual optics inside that allow compatible cameras to shoot 3D images. The firmware update for the G2 allows the camera to work with the lens for taking images in 3D and playing them back.

You do need a 3D compatible TV to be able to shoot the 3D images out in a viewable format. The new firmware you need to grab is version 1.1 and it can be downloaded right now. That 3D lens is a bit over 0, which is surprisingly cheap considering how much lenses can cost.

Geeks really pull out all the stops when it comes to holidays. We saw some epic Halloween stuff back in October and now that Christmas is right around the corner we are seeing some really cool holiday stuff made from LEGO bricks. One of my favorites was the LEGO Christmas tree that surfaced a while back.

You can now build your own LEGO Santa sleigh to complement that tree. The kit can be purchased directly from through LEGO Digital Designer for about with all the parts you need to build your own, or you can save some dough in the LEGO pick-a-brick shop. If you have hoards of bricks sitting around already you can build it yourself with schematics here.

You need that LEGO Digital Designer 4.0 software to get the plans. There are several different kits you can choose from. I particularly like the rocket powered sled. I suspect Santa is a purist and would use reindeer, but rocket power would be how I would go.
